Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a paralegal and a lawyer?
In Ontario, both paralegals and lawyers are licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. However, a paralegal’s scope of practice is more limited. A paralegal can represent you in Small Claims Court, at the Landlord and Tenant Board, and for some Criminal Summary Offences, among other things. A lawyer can represent you in all courts.
